Polyester sewing thread

Polyester is a kind of fiber made of polymer by spinning. It mainly refers to the fiber produced with ethylene terephthalate as raw material. According to the English name of its raw material, "polyester terephthalate" is abbreviated as "pet" fiber.

Sewing thread is the thread needed for knitted clothing products. According to the raw materials, sewing thread can be divided into natural fiber, synthetic fiber sewing thread and mixed sewing thread. Pure polyester fiber is used as raw material for sewing thread.

Polyester is also called high-strength thread, nylon sewing thread is called nylon thread, we usually call (pearlescent thread) polyester sewing thread is made of long or short polyester fiber, wear-resistant, low shrinkage, good chemical stability. However, polyester thread is widely used in the sewing of cotton, chemical fiber and blended fabrics due to its high strength, good wear resistance, low shrinkage, good hygroscopicity and heat resistance, corrosion resistance, mildew resistance and moth proofing. The difference between polyester sewing thread and polyamide sewing thread is that polyester is ignited and emits black smoke. The smell is not heavy and there is no elasticity. However, the nylon sewing thread is also a lump with white smoke and elastic smell when it is pulled up. High wear resistance, good light resistance, mildew proof, coloration degree of about 100 degrees, low temperature dyeing. It is widely used because of its high sewing strength, durability, flat seam and can meet the needs of a wide range of sewing industrial products.

Thread is usually made by twisting several strands of yarn side by side. The number of 20, 40, 60 in front of the sewing thread model refers to the number of yarn. The number of yarn can be simply understood as the thickness of the yarn. The higher the count, the thinner the yarn; the 2 and 3 at the back of the model respectively indicate that the sewing thread is made of several strands of yarn twisted together.

For example, 603 is made of 3 strands of 60 yarns and twisted together. Therefore, the higher the number of threads, the thinner the thread and the smaller the strength of the sewing thread with the same number of yarn twists; while for the sewing thread with the same number of yarn twists, the larger the number of strands, the thicker the thread and the greater the strength.

Comparison of line thickness: 203 > 202 > 403 > 402 = 603 > 602, the comparison of line strength is similar to line thickness! Generally speaking, 602 thread is mostly used for thin fabric, such as silk and georgette for summer wear; 603 and 402 thread are basically universal, which are the most common sewing thread, and can be used in general fabrics, such as cotton, hemp, polyester, viscose and other commonly used fabrics; 403 thread is used for thicker fabrics, such as cloth fabrics, etc; 202 and 203 thread can also be called denim thread.
